Savoy-based Zadient Technologies Raises €35 Million in Series A Funding to Accelerate Silicon Carbide Semiconductor Production in Europe

Zadient Technologies, a company from Savoy, has secured a €35 million Series A funding round led by Crédit Mutuel Impact and the European Innovation Council Fund. The investment will accelerate the production of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors in Europe.

The company, known for its innovative SiC production process that delivers exceptionally low costs and unprecedented purity levels, announced the funding round.

The investment was led by the “Révolution environnementale et solidaire” fund, supported by the societal dividend of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale and managed by Crédit Mutuel Impact. The European Innovation Council Fund and Zadient’s existing shareholders also participated.

The funding will enable Zadient to convert a factory in Bitterfeld, Germany, into a production site with a capacity of 350 tons of SiC per year starting in 2026. A unique gas recycling system will be implemented to eliminate polluting emissions and achieve significant energy savings.

Boosting R&D and Pilot Activities

Zadient will also intensify its R&D efforts and pilot activities focused on crystal growth and wafer production. The goal of these technological innovations is to accelerate the adoption of silicon carbide in the semiconductor value chain and support an effective energy transition, maximizing CO₂ avoidance.

Developing New Applications

The company aims to develop new applications, including chips for artificial intelligence and augmented reality glasses.

Kagan Ceran, President and Founder of Zadient Technologies, stated: “This funding will allow us to fulfill our mission of becoming a sovereign European supplier of silicon carbide, a critical material for the energy transition and defense, as well as for developing new applications such as AI chips and augmented reality glasses.”

Since its founding in 2020 at Alpespace, Zadient Technologies has received significant support from Cristal Innov, a R&D and innovation platform led by the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL). In 2024, the company reported revenue of €1.42 million and employed around 30 people.
